Acupuncture
Acupuncture at InPhysio is a safe, evidence-informed therapy that uses fine sterile needles placed at specific points on the body to help reduce pain, calm the nervous system, release muscle tension and support tissue healing, making it particularly effective for people experiencing chronic or long-standing musculoskeletal pain.

What the service includes?
Each session begins with a detailed physiotherapy assessment to understand the nature of your pain, contributing factors and movement patterns, after which acupuncture may be used on its own or combined with other treatments such as manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, shockwave therapy or education to address both symptoms and underlying causes.
What to expect during your appointment?
You will be positioned comfortably while ultra-fine, single-use needles are gently inserted into targeted areas, often producing mild sensations such as pressure, warmth or heaviness rather than pain, with treatments typically lasting 20 to 30 minutes and many patients reporting a feeling of relaxation, reduced tension or lighter movement afterwards.
Electroacupuncture
For persistent or more complex pain presentations we may use electroacupuncture, which applies a gentle electrical current between selected needles to provide a sustained stimulus, helping to modulate pain signals, reduce muscle guarding and support nerve and tissue recovery, while remaining comfortable and well tolerated.
How it benefits chronic pain and tension?
Acupuncture and electroacupuncture are particularly helpful for chronic pain conditions by reducing pain sensitivity, easing ongoing muscle tightness, improving circulation and supporting nervous system regulation, which can help break the cycle of pain, tension and restricted movement that often develops over time.
How it supports your rehabilitation?
By settling pain and reducing protective muscle tension, acupuncture can make movement feel easier and allow you to engage more confidently with exercise and hands-on therapy, helping to progress rehabilitation at a pace that feels manageable and sustainable.

At InPhysio acupuncture is provided by physiotherapists with advanced musculoskeletal training and is always integrated into a personalised treatment plan, ensuring your care is clinically appropriate, safe and focused on long-term improvement rather than short-term symptom relief.
